This successful teaching scheme links Part 1A (first year) students with Stage 3 (final year) supervisors, who take them for a series of clinical supervisions in Addenbrooke's Hospital. The aims of the scheme are to provide 1A students with their first introduction to hospital life, including ward etiquette and professionalism, and to introduce to the students the concept of clinical examination, linking this to the Part course. The scheme is an excellent opportunity for Stage 3 students to gain experience teaching both clinical examination and professionalism, and with 4 hours of teaching time in total, is easily manageable amongst other commitments. Current participants have particularly enjoyed the opportunity to be the first to introduce Part 1A students to the hospital and the responsibility that this involves.
